PRESIDENT'S NOTES
What a wonderful year the Symphony League has had! Over the past months our energetic and talented volunteers have hosted a membership tea, fed the musicians in the orchestra, held the string competition, celebrated a memorable debutante program with a lovely group of young women, completed and distributed our annual yearbook, made phone calls and helped to promote our Symphony in countless ways.
Victoria Zizmont and Elizabeth Miller have diligently prepared for the String Competition, which was held March 31. The String Competition is one of most important activities of the Symphony League in that it directly provides encouragement and support to the young string musicians in our community. Aggie In's leadership with Youth concerts provides tremendous opportunity for learning as well as performance venues for young musicians. Barbara Barron and her committee provided transportation to and from the airport rehearsals and performances as well as hospitality for the professional musicians when they visited Beaumont to perform with the Symphony.
Chelsea Brandimarte and her committee made magic moments for the Debutantes. Our League continues to garner praise for her dedicated work. The Winter Gala was the indisputably the most elegant affair of the holiday season. Chaired by the lovely Sue Golias and Kara Wied, the event is the major fundraising effort of our League and these talented ladies exceeded all expectations. These two fundraising events enabled the League to make a substantial donation to the Symphony of Southeast Texas.
A special word of thanks goes to Priscilla Craft, our Newsletter chairperson for her hard work providing timely and comprehensive newsletters to our membership. Also recognition is in order to Marsha Dykeman and Mary Ann Smith for updating our databases and establishing an effective Internet presence.
I thank each of you for your continued support urge everyone to stay involved with our League activities and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. This has been a wonderful year.
