17th ANNUAL STRING COMPETITION

The Symphony League of Beaumont held their 17th Annual String Competition at Lamar University on April 1, 2006. There were 88 entires competing in the violin, viola and cello events.

Donna Alvarez, a senior at West Brook High School received the Sandra Mason Scholarship Overall Performer Award. Alvarez is a student of Rodica Weber of Houston, Texas and is in her 5th year of study on the violin. She played 1st movement Concerto in e minor by Mendelssohn.

Amanda Frazier, a middle school student in her 5th year of study on the violin received the Sandra Mason Scholarship Overall Performer Award. Frazier played Sarabande in G Minor by Bohm. Frazier is a student of Jayne Todd.
