SYMPHONY LEAGUE POLICY CHANGES

The 2004 Ways and Means Committee Recommendations were presented at the November 10, 2004, General Board Meeting for approval. The following policy and fee changes were voted on by the Board. These changes were also included in this year’s Symphony League handbook the membership received in November.

1. The Symphony Belle fee has been increased to $500.00 for the 2006 Symphony Belles chosen in the Spring of 2005.

2. The Debutante Escort fee was raised to $200.00. This will be applicable to the 2005 Escorts.

3. The Debutante fee was raised to $1,100.00. This will be applicable to the 2005 Debutantes.

4. A policy change was made regarding the selection of Debutantes. The change in now reads:

III. Selection Procedures
A. Debutantes:
1. The Debutante Committee shall select the young ladies to be presented as Debutantes from nominations made in accordance with Article III paragraph, 2 of these policies. The determination of the number of young ladies selected shall be the discretion of the Debutante Selection Committee based on the criteria set forth in Article III, paragraphs 2a. 2b. and 2c of these policies. Selection shall be based on the family’s commitment to the symphony and not on the girl’s social or academic endeavors.

The Ways and Means Committee met at length to discuss the above changes which were recommended and approved to enhance these programs. Many of the fee changes were to reflect rising costs being incurred. The Selection Procedures were changed so a “specific number” would not be interpreted set forth by the old policy.
