PRESIDENT'S NOTES

It is a pleasure and a privilege to welcome you, our valued members of the Symphony League of Beaumont, as we begin our new year. For me as president, a review of our membership roster is both an exciting and a very humbling experience. We are part of an organization that has a heritage of hard work and a tradition of great success.

As we plan for the future, I hope you will take a moment to look back with satisfaction on your accomplishments. The coming year brings new challenges and new opportunities to build on the firm foundation provided by these accomplishments.

The success of fundraising efforts in 2005 allowed us to fulfill a League dream by making a very special additional gift for the Symphony of Southeast Texas. With the guidance of SOSET executive director Galen Wixson, the League will underwrite the appearance of a major artist as a part of the 2007 concert season. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable concert experience for Symphony patrons and to showcase our wonderful orchestra and conductor. You, our members, made this possible.

Whether you chose to volunteer or to provide underwriting, your support of League events and fundraisers is vital. Put together a table of your for the “Tartan Ball” on February 4. Volunteer for one of our Youth programs and see the positive impact we make in the lives of young people. Decorate for the Deb Ball or the Symphony Ball or volunteer for after the Ball cleanup. Bring a newcomer to the Membership Coffee. Help keep the warehouse inventory up to date. Every job is important.

Please support our Symphony directly by purchasing season tickets. An evening at a SOSET concert is a great way to enrich the lives of your children, to spend time with an older family member or to relax and get away from it all.

Finally please take a moment to read our mission statement. Let’s keep the music playing for many years to come!
