Sandra Hawthorne Mason
1950-2004

On June 5, 2004, we lost our dear friend, Sandra Mason, after a courageous and inspiring battle with breast cancer.

Sandra was a long-time, active member of the Symphony League of Beaumont and the Board of the Symphony of Southeast Texas. She served the League in many roles over the years and was our President in 2001-2002. Sandra had a quick smile, wonderful laugh and generous heart, and we will sorely miss her wisdom and enthusiasm.

Sandra was a great believer in the importance of fostering musical love and talent in our children. One of her greatest loves was the Youth String Competition. In her memory, each of the two scholarships awarded at the String Competition will be renamed in memory of Sandra Hawthorne Mason.
