FROM THE PRESIDENT-ELECT
As I look forward to the next year as president
of the Symphony League of Beaumont, it seems important to first
take a look back at our past. Over the past years I’ve learned what
an effective and important organization we have and with which we
are entrusted. Our League is recognized on a national level as one
of the top Symphony Leagues in terms of contributions to our Symphony
and effectiveness of our various League programs. In the last three
years our League has contributed in excess of $250,000 to the Symphony
of Southeast Texas! The ultimate success of the Symphony of Southeast
Texas is dependent in large measure on the success of our League
efforts and endeavors. We have been successful on a grand scale
thanks to the efforts of our past leaders and volunteers. To all
of them and to all of you, I extend my heartfelt gratitude.
To each of you, I ask that you become involved
in the activities and programs of the Symphony League. Some of us
become League members because our friends are League members, some
of us are involved because we are passionate about Symphonic music,
and others of us are involved for various other reasons. Whatever
the reason for your involvement, please take the time to respond
positively when asked for contributions of time, talent and other
gifts. We need each and every one of you to make next year one of
which we will be proud.
The upcoming year is already off to a great
start. Our awesome fundraising chairmen, Tanya Henderson, Debutante
Chairman, and Ann Clary Old, Symphony Ball Chairman, are already
hard at work planning next year’s events. While our Debutante program
continues to be a tradition-filled event that little girls look
forward to and dream about, the Symphony Ball continues to fulfill
its role as THE PREMIER event of the year. I can assure you that
the upcoming year’s events will meet and exceed those of past years.
Please be ready to say yes when asked to help with these excellent
fundraisers. The success we have depends solely on your willingness
to be involved.
For those of you who have held season tickets
for the Symphony in the past, please consider renewing your season
subscription. For those of you who have not previously purchased
season tickets, please consider doing so. Symphony performances
will be held on Saturday nights, which, hopefully, will be a more
convenient night for Symphony attendance.
Our League Membership Coffee will be held in
the home of Mrs. Lynn Smith on August 25, 2004. Please plan to attend
and bring a friend who is interested in becoming a member of our
League. I look forward to seeing you there. ,
