PAST PRESIDENT'S
TEA
On the sunny and cloudless afternoon of Sunday,
September 28, 2003, the Past President’s Tea was held at Lamar University’s
John Gray Library on the eighth floor. A gathering of handsome Junior
Escorts, radiant Debutantes, proud mothers, and family members greeted
the anticipated guests for the afternoon’s presentation. The delicious
array of cookies, fruit and sandwiches were displayed on all the
exquisite polished silver in the elegant dining room. Punch, coffee
and hot tea were served by Past President’s. The staff bustled to
take care of everyone
Once introductions were made, the presentation
was conducted by current President, Sherry Goth. Thirty poised young
ladies were presented first with their Junior Escort, then joined
by their Mother. After a touching display of affection, the debutante
presented her Mother with a beautiful pink rose as a token of love
and appreciation. As the afternoon concluded guests were in awe
of how beautiful the event had been.
Our sincere gratitude to Past President, Susan
Simmons for having made the possible arrangements for this event
to be held in such an elegant setting. On behalf of the Symphony
League, our sincere thanks to Cheryl Christopher, Debutante Chairman
and Cindy Dishman, Junior Escort Chairman. These two chairpersons
have done their job in an excellent manner with great efficiency.
On a more personal note, I would like to thank
the league members and Past President’s who made this possible for
addressing invitations, making cookies, organizational help at the
tea and serving. Without everyone’s contributions we would not be
able to host such a lovely event each year for the Debutantes and
their families.
Thank you!
Carol Smith - Immediate Past President,
Symphony League of Beaumont
