PRESIDENT'S NOTES

Welcome to another exciting year with the Symphony League of Beaumont! It is a privilege to serve as president of an organization whose purpose is to support our wonderful Symphony of Southeast Texas. Excitement and anticipation fill the air as our league continues its work. We exist to raise funds, present educational programs, offer community outreach, provide public awareness, and generate overall interest in the activities and performances of the Symphony.

The Symphony of Southeast Texas begins its 51st season with a commitment to excellence in symphonic music, as evidenced by the season’s theme “Heart and Soul”. The words “heart” and “soul” personify the enthusiasm experienced by those immersed in something of great interest. It aptly applies to our musicians, our directors, our volunteers and our supporters. The “heart and soul” given is indicative of the passion for a thriving musical community; our Symphony is the “heart and soul” of that activity.

As we begin a new season, the challenge is placed before us to support the arts, to embrace our Symphony, and to collectively put our “heart and soul” into making this 51st season the best ever. Attend a concert. Encourage an aspiring musician. Volunteer when needed. Buy season tickets. Introduce newcomers to the activities of the Symphony and the league. Plan to attend the Symphony Ball on February 7. Let’s keep the music playing, and I’ll see you at the concert on September 18!
